Privacy Policy

This explains what Inlava collects, how we use it, and your choices. Plain language, no surprises.
What we collect
- Account — your email address (and a password, stored only as a secure hash).
- Characters you create — the names, personas, and settings you enter.
- Conversation transcripts — the text of what you say (transcribed) and the character's replies.
- Usage & technical data — counts of turns, estimated costs, timestamps, and IP address (for abuse and cost control).
What we do NOT store
Your microphone audio is never stored. It's sent for transcription, turned into text, and discarded — we keep only the resulting text.
How long we keep transcripts
Conversation transcripts may be reviewed to improve characters and quality, and are automatically deleted within 30 days.
How we use your data
To operate the service, generate character responses, improve quality, prevent abuse, and meter usage. We do not sell your personal data.
Third-party processors
To turn your speech into a character's spoken reply, data passes through specialized providers, each processing it only to perform their part:
- Groq — speech-to-text (transcribes your audio to text).
- Google (Gemini) — generates the character's reply.
- Deepgram and ElevenLabs — text-to-speech (the character's voice).
- Google Cloud Platform — hosting, database, and file storage.
- An email provider — to send account emails.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. No third-party advertising trackers.
Your rights
You can access or delete your account and its data at any time — delete characters in your dashboard, or email us to remove your account entirely. Deleting your account removes your characters and associated personal data.
Children
Inlava isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Secrets and credentials are stored in a managed secrets vault, never in our code. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures.
